The Rest of Forever by Carrie Pulkinen

It's not secret that I love the paranormal. Ghosts, vampires, shifters, angels, demons.... The list goes on. Carrie Pulkinen's The Rest of Forever is just one more reason why.

Momma Says: 5 out 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Rest of Forever is beautifully written in third person POV and it fits well into the Paranormal Romance genre with its guardian angels and what happens in the "in-between." While the steam isn't over the top, the story does have its fair share, so I would recommend adult audiences.

Suspended between two worlds--belonging to neither--April must let go of her dreams and embrace her duties in the afterlife to win the man she loves.

High school history teacher April Carter never asked to be an angel. When she dies in a school shooting, she should go to heaven like a normal person. Instead, she wakes up in the afterlife as an angel-in-training with Damian as her mentor.

She might as well be in hell.

Damian is April's Guardian Angel, though no one would guess that based on his attitude. A tragic event in his past has left him bitter and resentful, and despite the spark April has ignited in his soul, he refuses to let her get close enough to care about him. He planned to help her cross over and be done with her. But when he discovers he's been assigned to train her, he must learn to let go of his past and accept his responsibilities, or face spending the rest of his existence alone and miserable.

Carrie Pulkinen certainly shows just how good she is at what she does in this one. It is a different look at the guardian angel story than what most of us have come to expect. It's not about the battle between good and evil and there are no demons in this story - some not so good people, yes, but no demons for the angels to contend with. The Rest of Forever's guardians are quite human in nature. They fall in love, they get angry, they feel jealousy, they grieve, and like so many of us, they have trouble letting go of past hurts.

The story here is about Damian and April, their past relationship problems, and whether or not they can let go of those problems to find love with each other. The fact that they're guardian angels is an added bonus and quite interesting in its own right.

Overall, the story is sweet, romantic, sad at times, and even has a bit of humor in the bickering between April and Damian as they find their way. Pulkinen's writing style drew me in from the beginning and held me throughout the story. This is one that I have no problem recommending to anyone who enjoys the genre.

The Rest of Forever is available on Amazon and is listed in Kindle Unlimited.
